The Summer Youth Basketball League (YBL) has existed in the community for over 45 years. The mission of YBL is to invest in the youth of the community by offering a constructive summer activity while teaching them basketball fundamentals, team building and social skills. YBL is unique because it provides an opportunity for both athletic and professional growth within the program. Youth who start as athletes can transition to being coaches or referees once they have become too old to be a player. Uncertified youth and young adult referees are paired with certified referees/coaches to provide training and skill development to ultimately prepare them to become certified referees or coaches, if they so choose. The overall goal is that every participant will leave the program being empowered and inspired to be a leader, become conscious of their community; all while developing social skill, accountability, respect, and self-discipline.
